The Bucket List

Paris

We rented a 15sqm apartment in the center of Paris for 6 weeks in the summer of 2013 and have been back multiple times since. During our stay there we came up with a bucket list of things to do which made our time there very memorable. Paris will always have a special place in our hearts.

1. Have a picnic by the Seine river

2. Explore the city on a bicycle

3. Explore the many flea and vintage markets around Paris

4.Visit Claude Monet’s gardens in Giverny, a day trip from Paris

5. Walk up the Arc de Triomphe and look down at the massive traffic roundabout that will scare any sane driver

6. Watch the Eiffel Tower lights illuminate as night falls

7. Visit the famous graves of Oscar Wilde and Edith Piaf in Père Lachaise cemetery

8. Visit a museum for free on the first Sunday of the month

9. Catch bits of the Tour de France 2013 cycling competition

10. Participate in Bastille Day celebrations around town

11. Visit the Les Catacombs

12. Walk down the famous Rue Montorgueil food street and salivate over everything edible

We’ve done most of Paris’s major sights during our first trip in winter 2012 so this bucket list was slightly off the beaten tourist track.

Sydney

We lived in Sydney for about 4 years but in the last year we came up with a bucket list of things to do before we left for our long term travels. The idea of the Bucket List was originally conceived to kickstart this blog and help it grow.

But the blog soon took on a life of its own and most of our Sydney posts were of things that we did that were not part of the bucket list. Nonetheless, buckets lists serve their purpose of helping us get out there to explore our city and do new things. As someone once said,Β  ‘When was the last time you did something for the first time??

1. Dine at a fancy restaurant by the harbour

2. Watch a show at the Sydney Opera House – one day in the future hopefully?

3. Spend a winter weekend all rugged up at the Blue Mountains

4. Have high tea at the classy Queen Victoria Building Tearoom

5. Cruise down the harbour on a boat

6. Hold a market stall to sell our wares – check back for an update soon!

7. Go on bike riding trips this summer

8. Go cherry/blueberry/strawberry picking to our hearts content

  6. Visited Sydney this last spring. What a beautiful city. What a shame it’s so far away from the rest of the “world.” I like the sound of your Paris bucket list. Can I come to Monet’s gardens with you?
